to give each moment of life a new breath
“It is, of course, quite true that God will not love you any less, or have less use for you, if you happen to have been born with a second-rate brain. He has room for people with very little sense, but He wants everyone to use what sense they have. … God is no fonder of intellectual slackers than of any other slackers. If you are thinking of becoming a Christian, I warn you, you are embarking on something which is going to take the whole of you, brains and all. But, fortunately, it works the other way around. Anyone who is honestly trying to be a Christian will soon find his intelligence being sharpened: one of the reasons why it needs no special education to be Christian is that Christianity is an education itself.”
- C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)
Laziness: define it however you’d like, but I gotta confess it has become one of my most frequent sins as of late. When I get home, I have fallen into the habit of turning on the air-conditioner, pouring myself a glass of iced green tea, and sitting down in front of my computer as I essentially waste time (even if some of those hours are genuinely devoted to work or catching up with current events — I need to be real with myself). I find excuses to try to explain to myself why I am choosing to sit down in front of my laptop. It’s a black hole; the moment I sit down, time flies and it’s not even particularly enjoyable. Every morning, I tell myself that today, I will go running, ruminate over the Word, and do other things that are actually meaningful. But the moment I look at the screen, conversation with my family stops and Junior lays down in defeat. All of those grand plans are smothered by the weight of laziness and procrastination. Who am I trying to kid!? Cause nobody up above is falling for that, and neither am I. Lord, forgive me for being so lazy!!!! #neveragain
