Mingwei, after the Celtics missed their millionth free throw. I am so depressed. I think I am going to lie face down on this couch for a while after the game. And then maybe roll around on the floor for a bit. (via kambr)
“How many liberal arts majors are here? I feel your pain. All the engineers here are smiling. I too was a liberal arts major.. so like you I have no actual skill. I majored in political science, I graduated in 1989, and I’d focused almost entirely on the Soviet Union and communism.. so when the Berlin wall fell I was, well, I was screwed. I mean I know it wasn’t about me, and I was happy.. for them.. but personally it was a blow.”—

So I was fricken kicked out of the house today by the unbearable heat and even more repulsive -aka non-existent- technology in my home —- internet connection minimal, tv signal unstable, dvd player malfunctioning…Times like these, I really do adore playing my piano - diversion without electricity, cables, signals, complicated sh!t.
In any case, so where can I go by foot that has HQ internet & air conditioning? Library, of course. After all, it’s only something like 00:03:40 from my house.
Let’s talk progress. In the past week, I finished Charmed Thirds and Fourth Comings - nothing out of the ordinary, more of the same addictive Jessica Darling pessimism, sarcasm, and wit that are so reminiscent of my own; narcissist, I am.
Love. Friendship. Family. Career. Who knows.
But then Perfect Fifths happened - and fck, I don’t know what happened. I get it Jessica’s finally officially (theoretically) separated from Marcus, that she’s got her own professional life going for 3 years already, and probably will not be writing in a journal every waking moment, and even if she does, probably will not be blabbing about everything in life with the same carefree judgments………….. BUT THE NARRATION AND DIALOGUE STYLE IS NOT WORKING OUT. I end up skipping most of it. At this point, I’m not reading every word just to hear Jessica speak, but the beginning of every paragraph just to see what happens.
Apparently the later half - I suppose the Marcus POV - is in poetry form…should be interesting…and I want to read it…If only I can make it that far…
Also got The Hunger Games today. Already exciting. I love certain kinds of subtle sci-fi. Like, The Giver-esque. The Hunger Games is like that…plus Lord of the Flies…plus the truly-horrific horror film from Japan, Battle Royale.
